Moon Energies
For many Pagan cultures the Moon is not only important in ritual and spell work but essential.
Moon energy work can be done at any stage of the moon cycle and any ritual/spell work can incorporate this. Casting by the moon cycles helps to solidify & strengthen energies as the different phases suit different purposes. There are some periods of the year where the energies are altered by other celestial events for example eclipses & blue moons either seasonal (3rd full moon our of 4 in a season) or calendar (two full moons in a month). The moon builds energy when waxing (moving toward a full moon from the new moon) & dissipating energy when waning (moving from the full moon toward the new moon). There are 8 stages of the moon (the dark moon & new moon as considered to be one stage) & the best time to utilize the moon energies is in the three (3) days of the cycle point you want to work with. The the last 12 hours of the day before, the 24 hours of the actual day and the first 12 hours of the day after the cycle day. We work from new moon to new moon as a month cycle, however you can choose any part of the cycle as your beginning. Ritual & spell work with moon energies are best done outside however this isn't really practical all the time, when the ritual is complete or the spell is finished if at all possible go outside to draw down the moon. This also is not always practical & during these times visual yourself outside drawing down the moon. |
