Samhain/Halloween
(Apirl30th/May 1st)
The celebration of the Ancestors is what this festival is known as for us.
Traditionally this time of year is the last harvest of the year.
Symbolic of the death of the sun/God who passes into the other world & re-enters the Goddess in preparation for rebirth at Yule.
This is time of year the veil between worlds is at it thinnest.
This is why we celebrate our ancestors with our family & close friends.
It is the Pagan new year.
The Goddess is now the grandmother (Crone/Cerridwen) who watches over the cauldron of life, death & rebirth.
She is now also the mother Goddess pregnant with the God.

The Samhain Altar
Incense
Mix all dried plant parts together and burn small amounts on coal tablets. Be warned that plant material smell very different when burnt and is sometimes not as pleasant as you might expect. If you don't want to burn them place them in a small wooden bowl and use as an altar or table decoration. |
Family Activites
Essential Oils Always use true essential oils and essential oil mixes when working with energies as these carry the right vibration for the purpose. Fragrant oils won't work as well & can be very harsh.
To make a simple Samhain mix put two drops each of the following in 10ml of carrier oil (Jojoba, grapeseed, olive oil) then shake well.

On this night as the veil thins,
I call to the ancestors of old to enter within,
In memory of those who have come before,
I honour the love of thousands and open my door,
To those who have bought me here I remember my line,
My Ancestors I welcome in across all time.
