New Moon - 14th June 2018

11/6/2018

Hello Everyone,

Another month rolls around to the new moon, the dark moon is Wednesday 13th and new moon on the 14th.  This months moon is known as the Oak moon, the long night (next week on the 21st the Winter solstice the longest night of the year).  The winter moons are very good ones for reflection as during the colder months we are less likely to become distracted with daily tasks and more likely to be able to find time for reflection.

The shorter days and cooler temperatures mean we spend more time inside or on inside activities creating a regular space for reflection and renewal is sometimes easier to achieve during the colder months.  This is the time we reflect, evaluate what is working and what isn't and decide what we should work on, discard, replace and begin.

Reflect on your short term and long term goals during this time.  If you are happy with them and don't feel you have to discard, replace or begin anything you can re-energize your current ones with a new moon ritual.

Yule - 21st of June

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Yule & although he days are clear mostly here it is lovely and cold outside, we have had a number of frosts this week also, making it very pretty in the morning with a light dusting of white.  Yule marks the winter solstice and the time for comfort foods, apples, clove & cinnamon.

This is the time of longest night & shortest day for the year. The time of the Sun Gods birth & for some Witches & Pagans it is considered the new year. This festival is over 10,000 years old in some cultures & is the time when the Sun begins to stay longer in the sky with the warmth of spring & summer just on the horizon.

This is the time the Goddess gives birth to the Sun God, when the lands begin their renewal & emergence from the sleep of winter. Holly is often used during this festival as is colour gold/yellow. Holly is the king that has been the guardian of the land, which he now must yield to the new born God (known as the Oak King).

I hope you all have a wonderful celebration for Yule, filled with the comfort of family, friends, fun & foods.
