In many Celtic traditions, Samhain is considered a time when the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead is at its thinnest. As a result, it is a time when many people honor and connect with their ancestors.

For Australia this is on May 1st as we are in the Southern Hemisphere. How we should honor the ancestors comes down choice & this is a very personal choice at that.

There are many ways that people may choose to celebrate their ancestors during Samhain. Some may create an altar or shrine with photos, candles, and offerings such as food or drink. Others may hold a ritual or ceremony to invite their ancestors to join them in a symbolic feast or to offer prayers and blessings.
Some people may choose to visit the graves of their loved ones and leave offerings or flowers. Others may light candles or create a bonfire as a way of symbolically honoring the spirits of the dead.
Overall, the celebration of ancestors during Samhain is an important aspect of many traditions in our modern world, and it is a time when people can connect with their roots, remember their ancestors, and honor the cycles of life and death. Thanking those who have come before us & as we honor the love of the thousands it took to bring us here.
This May 1st set an altar to honour your past ancestors & light a candle for them. Sit within the sacred space of this altar and reflect on all those who have come before. Then think about what is next to come.
xxoo.
